Chief Mutsembi Primary School - update on the UDDT construction

By Moses Wakala, ecosan expert and entrepreneur (wakala.gtz@gmail.com). Edited by Trevor Surridge (GIZ)

Since the last blog post in late February 2011 (http://ecosankenya.blogspot.com/2011/02/chief-mutsembe-primary-school-ecosan.html), a small tender has been granted to Moses Wakala to complete the toilet construction (double vault UDDTs) at the Chief Mutsembi Primary School.  Funding for the completion of the construction of 4 units has come from RODECO Consultancies GmbH through the Western Water Company and Lake Victoria North Water Services Board (LVNWSB).

The photos below show the construction progress that has taken place.

2 toilets doors and one urinal.

Masons are at work. On the right side you see a urinal section.

Urine storage chambers are well accessible from the front side.

construction at the school compound.

Location of Mutsembi School is close to Kakamega.

have they empty the septic tank? if not they should have atleast zip what is inside it. it would be a great hassle if they have completed the septic tank.

The finished toilet and urinal looks cute with those bricks. I hope they chose not to paint it, I love the classical design.
